This week at the Environmental Leader and Energy Manager Conference (ELEMCON), Diakont’s own Alexandra Golubovic was announced as an ‘Environment and Energy Leader 100 (E+E 100)’ award recipient. The ‘Environment + Energy Leader 100’ award is presented to individuals who are driving their companies, and environmental protection, sustainability, and energy management, forward.
Alex successfully led the first inspection of a large aboveground jet fuel storage tank while it remained filled and in-service, using the world's only Class I Division 1 Hazardous Location certified inspection robotic system, the Diakont Stingray. The use of this inspection technology reduces the risk of fuel leaks, while also reducing the cost and greenhouse-gas emissions associated with traditional methods.
In completing this project successfully, Alex needed to identify and address all potential hazards associated with inserting and operating a robotic system inside a refinery storage tank containing over 4 million gallons of flammable jet fuel. This process included the development of detailed procedures, training team personnel, and designing required liquid and vapor containment, among many other tasks.
While on-site for the inspection, Alex not only led the field service team during setup and deployment operations; she was also the primary robotics operator.
Congratulations Alex! Keep up the great work. Thank You for representing Diakont and our phenomenal Energy Services team!
