In 2008, Diakont’s GasProject division conducted in-line piping inspection at 16 natural gas compressor stations operated by Gazprom.
This inspection incorporated inspection of various pipe types and diameters, over a total combined length of 13 miles. Work was conducted using visual, laser-holographic, and electromagnetic-acoustic (EMAT) NDE of pipe bodies and welds.
As a result of this inspection, 729 suspected internal and external defects were discovered, such as: external corrosion, internal discontinuities in the body of the pipe, and suspected cracks and other defects including SCC, peptic corrosion, and pitting.
